Food: Tuna Fish

I know, probably an unusual subject but I figure it was worth writing about because of my recent experience with tuna fish.

Towards the end of the night at work, I am hungry and I always am trying to figure out “what the hell do I want for dinner?”. So I was texting my mom and she says “well, I just opened up a can of tuna fish and already ate the whole can!”. I was like “Mmmm that sounds perfect right now” then after that I ended up having two tuna sandwiches that night and one for lunch the next day because I just thought it sounded and was so perfect at that moment.

Still having my thoughts on tuna, hence this blog post, I remember reading that tuna is also healthy for you. So let me get those FACTS why: Oh yes, I remember at that same moment someone had posted that mustard is good for raising metabolism. Now not sure how that is but it sounded good at the time when I was eating tuna fish with mayo, mustard on whole wheat bread! : D And make sure its water tuna and not made with oil, tastes better and is healthier. ;)

Facts per the Tuna Facts Website:

Tuna is a good source of protein, vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids.

A diet rich in fish that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, like canned tuna, can curb or prevent cognitive decline, dementia, depression, neuropsychiatric disorders, asthma and inflammatory disorders.

My next segment on tuna fish is we all remember the famous couple Nick and Jessica Simpson with their newlywed reality show and how she wanted to know why tuna was called chicken of the sea? When its not chicken, its tuna. But just meant for sea creatures that would be considered chicken to them of sorts.

And now that concludes my happy tuna fish experience, facts and other entertainment info. I hope you enjoyed ;)

Personal Trainer goes from Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit again to relate to his clients

Fit2Fat2Fit.com

Personal trainer gains 70 pounds to empathize with overweight

Can I just say WOW! Here I am per health guidelines with 27% body fat considered overweight and here is someone with already the skills of being healthy and fit turn it all around to be overweight! I am just stunned. Because it is HARD mentally, emotionally and physically to lose weight. I am still at it. On my 3rd workout program and trying to clean up my eating!

My only concern is if he will have enough discipline to pull it off from Fat 2 Fit again because it really is a struggle!

Going through his articles on his website I was surprised that he was from Utah too LOL! Actually not really, Utah has been making it in the news lately with their Sister Wives show, Extreme Couponing stuff.

I love it though that his experiment has made him infamous and put him on The Tonight Show. ;) I love that kind of stuff! I will continue to follow him on Facebook and see where it takes him from there. I also noticed he is a promoter for Isagenix.

Smart but risky in my opinion.  ;)

Sleep

(Pictured: My daughter sleeping) Sleep, is such a beautiful thing. I decided to blog about sleep because my co-worker for the last couple of days has been complaining on Facebook how she has not been able to sleep. So, knowing what its like, like most people to not be able to sleep, (I am sure there is a statistic somewhere) I wanted to help her. So I brought her in a sleep mask and a night time sleep aid.

At one time I went 6 months of not being able to sleep because of insomnia and paranoia. It was horrible. I will never go through that again. I now sleep my full 8 hours with the help of a night time sleep aid and I LOVE sleeping with a sleep mask. : D . I think I go to bed at a decent hour between 10:30-11:30 pm and wake up around 6 am.

On the weekends I LOVE taking naps. I take about a two hour nap on both Saturday and Sunday. Not very often during the week because my time is so limited.

It doesn’t just feel good to rest, but it also helps you lose weight, prevents cancer and strokes, reduces stress, makes you more alert, boosts memory and makes you smarter, repairs your body when you are sick, etc…

Okay here are some statistics ;) from http://www.sleepmed.md/page/1896

20-40% of all adults have insomnia in the course of any year.

1 out of 3 people have insomnia at some point in their lives.

Over 70 million Americans suffer from disorders of sleep and wakefulness.

Of those, 60% have a chronic disorder.

Sleep problems add an estimated $15.9 billion to national health care costs.

84 classifications of sleep disorders exist.

Your body requires 8-8.5 hours of sleep at night. Don’t deny its request. ;)

Interview: Tiffany from The Gracious Pantry

TheGraciousPantry.com. Like in my previous post, I mentioned I had learned about Clean Eating when I became a Independent Team Beach Body Coach. Basically not eating processed foods, more homemade and natural cooking. I was told about TheGraciousPantry.com. It was hard deciding what recipe I wanted to try so I decided to try Bubble and Squeak because it had all my favorite things in it and I absolutely loved the name LOL! Now, I have an opportunity to interview the author of TheGraciousPantry.com. So here is Tiffany and her story :) ENJOY!

Tell me a little bit about you – name, where you live, family etc…

My name is Tiffany McCauley. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m married to a marine corps veteran, and I have a 4 year old son who I refer to as Mini Chef.

What initially made you decide to start “Clean Eating” ?

The day my son was born, I knew I had to do something about my health. I had been eating like a crazy person for years. But the moment I looked into my little boy’s eyes for the first time, I knew I needed to be a healthy mama for him.

Why did you decide to publish content about “Clean Eating” ?

I originally started my blog as a way to keep track of what I was eating. I hoped to get some input from, and share ideas with other clean eaters starting out like me. Over time, it really grew and I realized that people were actually interested in what I was cooking. With a significant love for cooking, I knew I had to keep sharing my recipes and I’ve never regretted it once. I love what I do and I’m incredibly fortunate that I have the opportunity to do what I do.

What is your favorite “Clean Eating” recipe?

Hands down… taco salad. We have it about once a week, sometimes twice. It’s quick, it’s easy, and I can use just about anything I have in the fridge. It changes every week depending on what produce I have on hand. It’s definitely something the whole family loves. Chicken and Dumplings is a close second!

How much weight have you lost “Clean Eating” ?

To date I’ve lost 59 pounds. I have a total of 114 to lose.

What are some of your hobbies? (aside from your site)

I love to knit, garden, go to the beach with my son and hunt for shells or chase waves. Cooking and writing would be close to the top of that list as well. I’d do both even if I wasn’t blogging. I’ve written a children’s book for my son and will have a new cookbook out in February.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

Gosh, that’s hard to say. Life has been pretty good to me, but it definitely keeps me on my toes. I never know where I’ll end up next! I certainly intend on blogging for years to come.

What advice would you give to new Clean Eaters?

Make sure you take those baby steps. It’s unrealistic to think you can jump into this lifestyle immediately and 100%. It’s also unrealistic to expect to be perfect all the time. I shoot for eating clean 85-90% of the time. You have to make allowances for life’s special occasions. If you do have a “treat”, remember that you absolutely have NOT blown your whole day. You’ve blown one meal, and that’s perfectly acceptable and expected as long as your next meal gets you back on your eating plan. Clean eating is very realistic if you apply a little common sense. Remember, this is a lifestyle. Not a diet, and lifestyles take a while to change. So be realistic with yourself and what you can do. It’s okay to change over slowly, as long as you are actually changing something on a regular basis until you get to where you need to be.

Thanks Jacquelyn!

I Love Pumpkin!

Yes, I LOVE Pumpkin! I love Fall too and that is another reason why I love this time of year. My favorite is Pumpkin pie. I enjoy drinking Pumpkin Spice coffee, and just this year I tried a Pumpkin ice cream, shake. Those are delicious!

My plan is try EVERYTHING Pumpkin this year! I will also be trying a Pumpkin Shakeology recipe as well. McDonald’s has the best Pumpkin pies too. Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies rock too!

So we have:
Pumpkin pie
Pumpkin Spice coffee/latte
Pumpkin ice cream (or shake)
Pumpkin ???
Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies
Pumpkin beer
Pumpkin bread
McDonalds Pumpkin pie etc…

and anything else I can find or make out of Pumpkin. One day though I would like to try to make a homemade pumpkin pie from an actual pumpkin. Might be a while before I do that. ;)

In the market for a new TV again this year!

Television sales Well, its that time of year again! Last year for Christmas I bought myself a 42″ Flatscreen TV, which I still love and use! But now this year looking to get a 32″ Flatscreen for my secondary room. I figure it times for an upgrade. I have even considered getting a TV projector but I just think that they are too much work and prefer a flatscreen TV.

So, I am going to follow the same thing as I did last year which is LAYAWAY! : D Worked great last year, and my new TV will cost a little less than last years since its 10″ smaller. Which I don’t mind.

The TV I have now is a Panasonic, I don’t really have a preferable brand and will take the cheapest as long as the TV works : D

Zombified….Happy Halloween!

I LOVE Online Shopping! : D

Like I said I love online shopping. I love this website because it has coupons and of course online deals! ;) They also have a product search engine which makes it great for what I am in the market for at the moment.

I have been looking into getting red comforters. I love it because you can save up to 67% or MORE on a nice comforter set. I love comforters because they keep you warm during the Winter and cool during the Summer.

I also have been looking at mail organizer because I get so much mail and never have a place to put it. I have been looking into like a small table next to the door as a place to keep it.

And I am always in need of family picture frames, because I always take pictures, love to get them printed and hung up in my house. I especially love personalized picture frames. My whole life I have taken pictures and I love them framed and hung up because then whenever I come home and see them it leaves me warm and fuzzy on the inside.

I love to shower! So, I am also looking at double shower heads. I can be in a shower for HOURS if I could! It is the most relaxing place to be so I want to get a good shower head that works for me when I am showering. I prefer that over a bath.

So this website is pretty cool! Has everything I need!
