First, what is a WAHM? (Work At Home Mom) by Wikipedias definition is: “A work at home parent is an entrepreneur who works from home and integrates parenting into his or her business activities. They are sometimes referred to as a WAHM (work at home mom) or a WAHD (work at home dad).” I digress a little on the explanation as inaccurate because work at home parents are not just doing home business but telecommuting jobs as well for both large and small companies from home.

This interpretation although of a WAHM (magazine) is more correct: “WAHM is an online magazine about work at home jobs, work at home job opportunities, and the work at home lifestyle. The name is an acronym for “Work at Home Moms,” though the magazine covers issues affecting all home-based workers and telecommuters, both male and female.

I first learned about working from home when I was a senior in high school. Before I was married and had my daughter. Then I got more serious about it after I came back from Mexico in 2003 with my 2 month old daughter. I will not get into that because it has been mentioned a few times in previous posts. Today I want to get more into WHAT you can do to work from home, statistics and facts, so you know that it is possibly and not all scammy like you have been told to believe.

I am though, a work at home mom by definition. I house & pet sit, sell on ebay and run a home-based business and occasionally in the past did telemarketing jobs from home. I have been working from home since March 2012. Even though I have been pursuing working from home since 2000. (when I was 18 years old).

I had a feeling that telecommuting has grown in the recent years and found an article from 2012 that it has risen up to 41%! Source: Work from home soars 41% in 10 years I can imagine that percentage has went up a bit as well. It is more cost effective for companies as well as the employees to work from home from low to no overhead for the company, no commuting, no buying lunches etc…In fact, a couple of months ago, I was in the grocery store and this guy yelled out that he worked from home, most of the people I chat with online work from home as well. It is a lot more common than it was 10 years ago.

So I bet you are wondering next, so what CAN I do from home that is NOT a business? Good Question! I googled carefully and found a Top 10 List of Jobs that you can do from home, dated for this YEAR 2014. Source: 10 Big Companies That Will Let You Work From Home
